The DVP-NS305E multizone DVD player is designed to play DVDs from multiple regions (such as the North America, Western Europe and Japan, and China) rather than discs from one region only, as is typical of most DVD players. The broader scope gives the user more movie options--a particular bonus for people interested in imports and international films. However, note that some newer region-specific DVDs will not play on a multizone player. In addition to its multizone focus, the DVP-NS305E includes a number of other valuable features, such as block noise reduction, which minimizes the data noise that often interferes with DVD images, along with a component video output that ensures the highest possible picture clarity through your TV. The unit's audio enhancements include Dolby Digital and DTS outputs, which deliver 5.1-channel surround sound when connected to a compatible receiver. The player also offers Digital Cinema Sound, a series of modes that replicate the acoustic performance of Hollywood's greatest sound stages, along with virtual surround for users who want to simulate surround sound in a two-speaker setup, or even through the TV's built-in speakers. The DVD player includes a 24-bit/96 kHz audio digital-to-analog converter for superior signal transfer, along with such convenient features as SmoothScan fast forward and reverse and SmoothSlow slow motion. Parents will rest easy with the included parental lock feature, while everyone will appreciate the convenience of CD and DVD Text, which display artists, titles, and even jacket covers on the front panel and TV.
