Listen through the set's 1.5-watt stereo speakers or hook it up with a larger entertainment system--this versatile unit lets you have it both ways. The TV element uses a TruFlat picture tube, which not only looks cool compared to a conventional, bulbous screen, but also provides a high-quality, high-contrast picture because of the screen's ability to reduce reflected ambient light. The 20F500TDV's comb filter enhances resolution by removing blurred edges between colors and reducing dot crawl (tiny, moving dots of color along a sharp color separation in a vertical line, as in a depiction of a character's striped T-shirt). The DVD player offers compatibility with recordable DVD+R and DVD+RW discs, 2x to 4x picture zoom, and scanning speeds from .125x to 15x. The VCR includes features four-head, hi-fi audio/video, one-touch recording, autorewind, autorepeat, and Quick Start, which gets your programs up and running in no time. Standard composite-video inputs accommodate most video equipment, from DVRs to laser disc players. You can choose between a set of rear AV inputs and a set of front AV inputs for convenience in hooking up camcorders and gaming consoles. A rear AV output lets you hook the set up with a stereo receiver. Looking for home-theater excitement? Hook the unit's coaxial digital-audio output up with a compatible audio/video surround receiver and multichannel speaker system for immersive, 5.1-channel Dolby Digital and DTS surround sound. Or, take advantage of the built-in 3D audio feature, which simulates surround sound from any two speakers.
