From the Manufacturer
Tight on space? Hate complicated hookups? Panasonic's triple-play PV-DM2792 boasts integrated DVD and VHS videocassette players, giving you video as well as music playback flexibility from one easy-to-use television. Video features
This triple-play combo features a high-quality DVD player that does double duty as an audio CD player. The DVD format delivers brilliant, high-resolution video images (twice as sharp as those on a VHS tape) and high-quality audio. The 27-inch PV-DM2792 uses a PanaBlack screen, which is darker than conventional picture tubes. This technology helps reduce the picture-degrading effects of ambient light, resulting in a picture with high contrast and accurate color reproduction. If you want to watch a VHS tape, use the built-in, four-head, hi-fi VCR. As with Panasonic's standalone players, this built-in VCR is equipped with auto clock set, which uses the Extended Data Service signal carried by many PBS stations to automatically set the time. To record a program, just enter the PlusCode numbers (published in 500 newspapers nationwide, as well as in TV Guide) for the programs you wish to record and the VCR is automatically set. You can also use the DVD deck to watch homemade videos that were originally recorded on either an analog or digital camcorder and then transferred to a DVD video recorder (such as the Panasonic DMR-E20) and saved to DVD-R discs. Audio features
One of the convenient things about DVD players is that they make great CD players, and in this respect the PV-DM2792 is no different from advanced standalone DVD players, accommodating CD-R, CD-RW, and DVD-R media--it will even play your MP3 CDs. (Audio output jacks facilitate hookup to a home stereo or home theater receiver or amplifier.) The PV-DM2792 is home theater ready, featuring outputs for surround-sound audio. When it's connected to a Dolby Digital or DTS decoding receiver, you can experience exhilarating digital audio for a true theaterlike experience. However, even those who don't have the room or the budget for a full surround-sound system can enjoy the rich audio of movie soundtracks, thanks to Panasonic's simulated surround-sound system. This feature creates a surround-sound effect from the TV's built-in stereo speakers. The Auto Gain Control feature maintains a uniform volume level when switching between the built-in components. Connections
Front and rear A/V input jacks allow easy connection to other home theater components, like receivers, camcorders, satellite dishes, and gaming consoles. Other features
Other DVD features include smooth motion scan (in five speeds up to 100 times), picture zoom, and auto switching field/frame still. Depending on the content of the disc, you can select from up to eight language soundtracks, 32 subtitle languages, and multiple camera angles. In the event of a power outage, a backup system will automatically reset the time and date within 24 hours. Panasonic also makes VCR programming quick and easy with the VCR Plus+ feature. Other features include a built-in FM radio and alarm clock and a timer function that can be used to turn the sets on or off automatically. An illuminated Light Tower remote control lights up for easy operation in darkened rooms. To keep specially encoded, mature television programs away from children, this model incorporates the "V-Chip" parental guidance system.
