Magnavox's MPD700 offers the versatility of a portable DVD player alongside the performance of a sophisticated home-theater component--and you can use it as both. You can also personalize your playback like never before: the player handles DVD-Video, DVD+R/+RW, and standard and recordable audio CDs, including MP3- and JPEG-encoded discs. Its slender chassis houses a 7-inch widescreen (16:9) liquid-crystal display and outputs for use with a larger monitor (including an S-video output). Audio features also include DTS and Dolby Digital passthrough (for use with a compatible audio/video receiver and multichannel speaker system), built-in stereo speakers, and a headphone jack (headphones are not included). A handy DC power adapter for vehicle use gives you unlimited playback on the road, and the unit's built-in rechargeable battery is good for about three hours between charges.
